GWATA, the NCW Technology Alliance will be holding our annual Innovator Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, March 29 from Noon to 1:30 at the Wenatchee Convention Center. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. The Technology Alliance is a not for profit organization and all proceeds from the event, featuring a keynote address by Microsoft’s Rick Bakken, Senior Director Data Center Evangelism with the focus on the Cloud, will support GWATA programs for the year.
Rick represents Global Foundational Services (GFS), the group that is the platform for Microsoft’s search, advertising, live, cloud and other online services. His organization supports over 200 Microsoft online services for consumers and businesses worldwide. GFS designs, builds and administers Microsoft’s global datacenter footprint to include connectivity and service availability. Bakken is an 18 year veteran with Microsoft and has managed IT operations, sales and marketing, business development, procurement, global strategies, product development, technical support, manufacturing and supply chain, and finance practices. He holds a BS in International Management from Muskingum University and is a member of the International Coaches Federation (ICF) and is a practicing executive trainer and coach.
The Chelan County PUD’s Communications Officer, Wayne Wright, will be the Master of Ceremony. Wright is the Executive Manager of District Services for the Chelan County Public Utility District. He has worked for the PUD for over 30 years and is a strong advocate for public power. Wright is an active community volunteer, Exchange Club member, serves on the board of the Community Foundation of North Central Washington and the Holy Apostles Catholic Church Parish Council. Wayne graduated from the University of Washington and has a background in radio broadcasting in Chelan County.
