The Innovator Awards Luncheon celebrates the drive, passion, and spirit of innovators in our community while inspiring those who are just starting their journey.
When talking about game changers in technology or business, people often look at Seattle entrepreneurs and companies for inspiration. But world-class innovation and development is happening right here in NCW. It is important for us to shine a light on those in our community – our neighbors, family, and friends – who are excelling in their industries, championing growth for our community, and paving the path for the next generation.
We celebrated innovation and leadership at our 22nd Annual Innovator Awards Luncheon on November 8, 2023, at the Wenatchee Convention Center. The event was marked by the presentation of six distinguished Innovator Awards, a Lifetime Achievement Award, the introduction of Dr. Sue Kane as the new CEO, and a heartfelt tribute to Jenny Rojanasthien, the revered outgoing Executive Director.
Award Categories
Every year, the community nominates champions across the region in five award categories.
Since 2001, over 100 innovators have been recognized for their innovation in entrepreneurship, technology, and STEM education.
The Innovator Awards celebrate the drive, passion, and spirit of innovators in North Central Washington while inspiring others just starting their journey. Leading up to the event, NCW Tech Alliance accepted nominations from the community for individuals and businesses who demonstrated exemplary innovation and accomplishments in entrepreneurship, technology, and education.
During the event, NCW Tech celebrated the winners in five award categories plus a Lifetime Achievement Award:
STEM College Innovator of the Year
Titus Petersen, Grand Canyon University and Xitlali Cruz, Stanford
The STEM College Student Innovator of the Year award goes to a post-secondary student enrolled in a college, university, or trade school who demonstrates critical thinking, creativity, and leadership in their studies.
Entrepreneur of the Year 2023
Jonathan Baker, eqpd
The Entrepreneur of the Year Award is presented by Peoples Bank. This award honors an entrepreneur who has the vision and ability to see a need and fill it.

STEM Champion of the Year
Mark Ross Kondo, Quincy High School
The STEM Champion of the Year Award is presented by Microsoft. This award honors educators and community members who are pursuing innovative approaches to learning through STEM experiences.

(K-12) Future Technology Leader of the Year
Alexandra N. Vazquez-Rocha, Chelan High School
The Future Technology Leader of the Year award is presented to K-12 students or students who demonstrate leadership and innovation through a class project.
Newcomer In Technology 2023

Newcomer in Technology Award will be given to a company, department, or organization that has demonstrated a transformation to the work environment using technology or created a new technology to benefit an entire industry.

Ron Brown, Wenatchee School District
Ron will be the 11th recipient of this prestigious award. Mr. Brown has created opportunities and connections for countless numbers of students and staff.

Thank You Jenny Rojanasthien
During her eight-year tenure as Executive Director, Jenny transformed the organization into a regional powerhouse. Under her leadership, NCW Tech Alliance organized over 200 high-caliber events spanning technology, entrepreneurship, and STEM education, benefiting more than 15,000 individuals.
